Negotiation Teaching and Coaching

Negotiation is a skill that can be learned and practiced. We all have to do it, whether we like it or not. And we can all be good at it! You don’t have to be a loud guy in a business suit. You can negotiate effectively without changing who you are.

I offer group online courses and one-on-one coaching. Contact me if you’re interested in setting up either one.

Teaching: Here’s a free summary of the key concepts in my online Negotiation Basics course. This is a 90-minute interactive class where I teach you how to prepare for and conduct a negotiation. It includes specific phrases you can use and techniques for saying no without derailing the discussion. (Advanced and customized topics also available.)

Coaching: One-on-one phone calls or videoconferences where I talk you through a work-related issue you’re struggling with. Two flavors of coaching calls, typically one hour each:

  1. You have a decision to make that’s been going around and around your mind, but you can’t figure out what to do. I won’t make the decision for you, but will ask questions to help identify and weigh the factors that should go into your decisionmaking. By the end, you’ll have clarity.
  2. You have a negotiation or difficult conversation coming up. We can roleplay, figure out your rationales and talking points, think about what the other side’s concerns might be, and even practice specific phrases and questions. By the end, you’ll feel prepared.

“In my coaching session with Pia, she approached my professional situation with insight, empathy, and skill. With her talent and experience, she untangled years of frustrations and fears to articulate my professional goals and provide me with precise next steps and resources. I’m so thankful for her nuanced guidance, and I wish that every one of my colleagues could have a coaching session with Pia.” — Rebecca Joy
